What it is
5-amino-1-methylquinolinium (5-amino-1MQ) is a small-molecule inhibitor of NNMT — nicotinamide N-methyltransferase — an enzyme highly expressed in adipose tissue and the liver.
NNMT consumes methyl donors (SAM) and degrades nicotinamide (a NAD+ precursor). By inhibiting NNMT, 5-amino-1MQ has been studied as a tool for raising local NAD+ and methyl-donor availability, with downstream effects on adipocyte biology and energy metabolism in pre-clinical research.
What customers usually ask about
- Fat loss (especially stubborn fat depots) — in mouse models, NNMT inhibition reduced adipose tissue mass
- Muscle preservation in a deficit
- NAD+-related “longevity” angles
Research status
Almost all current data is pre-clinical (cell and mouse studies). Human clinical trial data is very limited.
Grouped here with metabolic peptides for convenience, although it is a small molecule, not a peptide. Sold as a research-purpose product. No human protocols from us — please consult a physician.
