What it is
Oxymetholone is a C-17 alpha-alkylated oral anabolic steroid originally developed by Syntex and approved by the FDA for the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red cell production, including aplastic anemia and HIV-associated wasting.
Does not aromatize to estradiol but exhibits significant estrogenic activity through mechanisms not fully characterized (possibly direct estrogen receptor activity).
