What it is
Tamoxifen citrate — a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM). FDA-approved for the treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
It acts as an estrogen receptor antagonist in some tissues (notably breast) and an agonist in others (notably bone and uterus). In the context of androgen use, it is discussed for its action on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis (stimulating LH/FSH release by blocking estrogenic negative feedback) and for treating gynecomastia.
