What it is

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide developed in the 1990s. It belongs to the class of growth hormone secretagogues — molecules that signal the pituitary to release the body’s own growth hormone in a pulsatile fashion, rather than introducing exogenous HGH directly.

Mechanistically, it acts as a selective agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). Unlike older secretagogues such as GHRP-6, ipamorelin has minimal effect on cortisol or prolactin and does not typically stimulate hunger.

Often discussed alongside

CJC-1295 — the two work on complementary pathways (ghrelin receptor + GHRH receptor) and are frequently studied together in the research literature.
